Do you support a young person with a learning disability who’s between 14 and 25 years old?
We’re inviting families to join a relaxed and supportive focus group where you can share your experiences of the transition to adulthood. Whether you’re just starting the journey or have already been through it, your story matters.
This focus group will be co-hosted by Dr Sinead Peacock-Brennan, Consultant Clinical Psychologist with the Adult Learning Disability Team, and is supported by the Government of Jersey’s Disability and Inclusion Team.
What to Expect
This focus group will offer a welcoming and confidential space where you can connect with other parents and carers who have similar experiences. We’ll begin with a short introduction to explain why this work is happening now and how your insights can make a real difference.
You’ll then take part in small group conversations, guided by experienced facilitators, where you’ll have the opportunity to share your thoughts openly. We’ll explore what has worked well during your young person’s transition to adulthood, and what has felt confusing, stressful, or missing—whether you're at the beginning or further along the journey.
Together, we’ll consider what changes could help make the transition clearer, smoother, and more supportive for families like yours. Above all, this is your chance to help shape meaningful improvements in how Jersey supports young people with learning disabilities and the families who care for them.
