Join us for a spectacular showcase of the art of the short film, from the U.S, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Canada, Portugal and Switzerland. Here are some of our favourites from the past year. Tennis, Oranges Sean Pecknold / United States / 2024 / 10 mins A robotic vacuum suffering from burnout quits its job at a hospital and sets out to find community and a greater purpose on a quiet street where two lonely rabbits are stuck in perpetual loops. A Study of Empathy Hilke Ronnfeldt / Germany / 2024 / 14 mins Dana wants to show empathy. Penelope wants to explore empathy. People’s artistic experiment unfolds and Dana’s feelings are whirled around. Basri and Salma in a Never-Ending Comedy Khozy Rizal / Indonesia / 2024 / 15 mins A husband and wife own an Odong-Odong at the carnival. Between meddling relatives, self-doubt and an explosive confrontation, they uncover why they have not been blessed with a child. Hold On For Dear Life Simone Fiorentino / Italy / 2024 / 9 mins A young man wanders around his bomb-wounded city with his dog and his noseless friend Jean-Michel, while trying to keep his everyday life intact. A toi les oreilles Alexandre Isabelle / Canada / 2024 / 13 mins While the townsfolk are celebrating the village’s anniversary parade, Etienne tries the impossible: to show them how beautiful his family’s cacophony really is. 2720 Basil da Cunha / Switzerland, Portugal / 2024 / 24 mins After a violent police raid in a poor clandestine neighbourhood in Lisbon, a 7-year-old girl seeks to find her missing older brother. At the same time, a young newly released ex-convict tries to start anew, free from a life of crime. The fate of these two will cross in the worst way.
