Starting at the Royal Square, join Louisa the cook and housekeeper from 16 New Street as she takes you on a guided walk through the era of the Napoleonic War.
The guided tour around town will last an hour, then we shall then return to 16 New Street where Louisa will take you on a short guided tour around the house with refreshments being served.
During the Georgian era, some Jersey residents prospered due to the wars against the French. However, in the late 1700s, Napoleon had set his sights upon our Island. His plan would attempt to disarm us and stop us prospering from the war - this prompted concerns about how he would attempt to control the island. This had an impact on the people of Jersey - including the Journeaux family living at 16 New Street. Meanwhile, England was also taking action by strengthening defenses along its southern most part of Great Britain : the Island of Jersey
