Grève de Lecq Barracks (NTJ) ArtHouse Jersey Greve de Lecq Barracks JE3 Jersey

Details

Join artist
Olha Pryymak
for a gentle evening workshop exploring the ritual of grass doll-making, also known as wish dolls; a tradition found across cultures that speaks to renewal, protection, and wishes for the future.
This hands-on workshop includes:
A short introduction to Kupala Festival, a midsummer tradition from Northern and Eastern Europe.
A gentle foraging walk to gather natural materials.
Step-by-step doll-making in the studio, with cultural insights along the way.
Each finished doll will be photographed as part of a growing visual archive, with selected images later displayed as part of
Kupala Festival
this summer.
All are welcome – no prior experience is needed. This is a space for reflection, creativity, and connection with the land and one another.
Practical Notes:
Please wear layers of clothing and footwear suitable for uneven ground – we’ll be walking a short distance outdoors whatever the weather.
For any questions, contact Scott Evans by e-mail at [email protected].
Getting to ArtHouse Jersey's Greve de Lecq Barracks:
By Bus: Take Liberty Bus number 9 departing from Liberation Station in St. Helier. The bus departing at 17:45 will get you to Greve de Lecq on time, and the return bus departs at 20:20.
By Car: Park in the car park at the National Trust for Jersey’s Seaside Café and walk 100m uphill via the marked path to Chemin du Catel.
If in doubt, please look out for our ArtHouse Jersey flag!
This workshop is part of a larger cultural celebration led by artist Olha Pryymak called Kupala Festival; a vibrant midsummer tradition held across Northern and Eastern Europe that celebrates nature, participation, and creativity, coming to Jersey this summer.
