Don Pasquale is Donizetti's final "opera buffa", or comic opera, and tells the story of a young couple in love scheming to overthrow the inappropriate plans of an older man who wants marry Norina himself. Charming from beginning to end with delightful music.
The Marriage of Figaro - an upstairs downstairs tale of intrigue and mistaken identities where the servants Figaro and Suzanna foil the efforts of their philandering employer Count Almaviva and teach him a lesson in fidelity. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's glorious opera from a story by Lorenzo Da Ponte
The Magical Opera Gala brings a delightful mix of classic opera arias, duets and ensembles in the first half and lighter muisc in the second. Nine of Diva Opera'stop singers will give lively performances and there will be a nod towards the 100th birthday of Gerald Durrell whose zoo is the main benficiary of the Opera Festival fund raising of course.
