Pressure ulcer prevention & management
Recognising early signs of deteriorating condition in relation to pressure ulcer risk.
Overview of pressure ulcer framework in relation to HCA role (escalation etc.) Hints and tips on pressure relieving strategy. Demonstrate how to complete a simple seating assessment to understand if the chair is not suitable for the individual and why.

The course will give you an understanding of the island wide pressure ulcer framework and how this relates to your role

This course focuses on clinical skills relating to pressure ulcer prevention and management

This course is delivered by the Community Tissue Viability Team based on the NWCSP

During the session your knowledge and skills will be checked repeatedly to ensure they are imbedded.
Relevant-
all aspects of the sessions will be relevant to HCAs in all clinical settings
Time-Bound
- Reattendance every 3 years is advised to stay up to date with any changes to practice but will be dependent upon the individual’s competence and confidence
