A recital of music with one of the finest living singers. This ravishing evening features international opera star Sophie Bevan MBE and pianist Sebastian Wybrew performing popular songs. Launching the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Jersey and the Liberation International Music Festival in May 2025, We’ll Gather Lilacs tells the stories of those going to fight, the love, and loss of those left behind, to the joy felt at the end of the war on Liberation Day 80 years ago this year. Captivating songs from the timeless perspective of ‘Tom Sails Away’ to the oceanic depths of Elgar's 'Submarines' and the cosy evergreen 'We'll Gather Lilacs' and other cabaret songs by Noel Coward and Ivor Novello will make this a night to remember. Sophie is a regular at the great opera houses around the world from the Royal Opera House to the Metropolitan New York. She has made countless recordings which are the pick of all interpretations and performs with the finest orchestras from the Royal Concertgebouw to the London Symphony Orchestra. INFORMATION Tickets are £25/20 per person (£5 children and students) and benefit Music in Action's educational and outreach work. Music in Action are currently fundraising to provide bursaries to 96 children at D'Auvergne school and Rouge Bouillon to allow them access to musical instrument lessons. The charity Music in Action is at the forefront of outreach projects in Jersey. In 2024, over 7000 children and care home residents have taken part in the Music in Action outreach programme.
