*FREE EVENT* Wednesday 18th September brings the Full "Harvest" Moon, which is also a Super Moon! It is the closest full moon to the Autumn Equinox and for several evenings, the moonrise comes soon after sunset. Sunset 19.14 Moonrise 19.27 This results in an abundance of bright moonlight early in the evening, which was a traditional aid to farmers and their teams harvesting summer-grown crops. Hence, it's called the “Harvest” Moon! We shall be pointing the telescope skyward to explore a different world of not just the moon, but planets, constellations and satellites. Obviously we shall be hoping for a cloud-free evening... Please meet us at the benches above Long Beach car park, Grouville, from 18.30. If you have binoculars and a folding chair please bring them along. Warm clothing and a hot drink could be useful too! For the swimmers ...high tide is at 19.41 For the hungry ...
