Council for British Archaeology Festival Société Jersiaise Programme 2025
Presents: Explore Le Pinnacle
Located on Jersey’s western coast in St. Ouen, Le Pinnacle is a striking rocky outcrop that stands out in the landscape. For millennia, the site held special significance for islanders, as evidenced by successive archaeological remains. Through an exploration of this iconic site, a group of adults and young adults will reflect on the concept of a “geosymbol”.
Société Jersiaise archaeologist Hervé will lead an informative walk across the headland showing the archaeological remains. The paths down to Le Pinnacle are steep and you need to be sure-footed and confident to descend and ascend. Good walking shoes / boots are essential (not sandals) and a walking pole would be helpful.
Guide: Dr Hervé Duval-Gatignol (Société Jersiaise Field Archaeologist)
Grade: Hard – wear appropriate outdoor clothing and shoes dependent on weather conditions
