The Sustainable Cooperative invites you to meet and engage with some of the island’s most exciting growers and producers. All of our farmers share an interest in regenerative and organic farming practices, nurturing local ecological habitats and protecting natural resources.
A tour of each farm is followed by some delicious food, prepared with ingredients grown or produced on the site.
Jersey Flower Farm
The Jersey Flower Farm in the parish of St John is managed by permaculture trained flower farmer and florist Elise Stubbs.
Elise’s flowers are grown without sprays, using the natural biodiversity that comes with small plantings of pollen rich garden flowers to ensure that there is always something to pick during the summer. Elise is committed to providing a source of locally grown flowers for the local market. They have also started weaving natural willow coffins.
“What I am trying to achieve is a natural abundant eco system on the field that will serve both florist and wildlife so that both work and support each other. Simply, if I make habitat friendly spaces for the insects they will help keep the pests at bay, if I grow types of flowers and foliage that are beautiful and useful to wildlife I can help feed the wildlife before I harvest. My farm has a small niche market allowing me to harvest in a smaller more mindful way. By working with nature I am not reliant on anything other than my time, skill and what the seasons bring ensuring that there is always something to harvest for my customers each week during the summer.”
GROW Jersey
Grow Jersey is a not-for-profit community smallholding based in the north of St Helier. We provide opportunities for school groups, charitable organisations and members of the general public to engage in sustainable food growing and outdoor learning, providing opportunities to access nature and friendship, along with tea and cake!
SCOOP Open Farm Days
Our Open Farm Days are aimed at those interested or actively involved in sustainable regenerative farming practices and local food systems. They look to create a network of support among existing growers and those who might be considering a farming future, while also connecting local producers with consumers, to foster a greater understanding and appreciation towards the work local farmers do for the community.
Our Open Farm Days are supported by Farm Jersey and are open to all. Please let us know if you have any questions regarding accessibility. Directions to the site will be sent by email once you have reserved your space. Donations are welcomed on the day to help cover the costs of hosting the event.
