St Catherine's Bunker is a significant World War II German fortification and tunnel complex in Jersey, Channel Islands. It served as a crucial element of the German northeastern coastal defences, particularly after the Allied invasion of France. The site, also known as Widerstandsnest Mole Verclut, originally featured two heavy machine gun bunkers, shelters, anti-tank defences, a casemate for a 10.5cm gun, and an extensive tunnel system.
Visitors can take guided tours of the bunker and tunnels, offering a hands-on experience with numerous World War II artefacts, weapons, and equipment. The tours aim to provide insight into the historical significance and military function of the bunker within the context of the D-Day invasion and the Battle of Normandy, which occurred less than 15 miles away. Profits from the tours are reinvested into the restoration and upkeep of the site. The bunker is now managed by Jersey War Tours and Jersey Seafaris, with plans to develop it into an educational museum.
