Sheep Shed Jersey is a small, family-run farm operated by Laurent and Paris, who have been managing Potage Farm for the past 14 years. The farm is considered first-generation, as the land previously farmed by Laurent's grandparents had fallen out of use before Laurent took an interest, meaning they built the current operation from scratch. The primary farming activity is poultry, with up to 4,000 chickens on-site annually, producing free-range eggs for local supermarkets and farm shops. They also maintain a flock of approximately 100 Texel/LLeyn X sheep, utilizing their wool in compost mixes and selling lamb, hogget, and mutton directly from the farm.
In addition to livestock, Sheep Shed Jersey has ventured into flower farming with the establishment of Sheep Shed Floral. They cultivate sustainable, chemical-free flowers and sell fresh bouquets alongside their eggs at a roadside stall during spring and summer. The farm also offers DIY flower buckets for events, pick-your-own flower sessions, and flower arranging courses, and collaborates with local florists to reduce reliance on imported blooms. The farm is open year-round for ticketed public events, aiming to provide community access to the countryside and share their passion for agriculture. They also host playgroup sessions for children, teaching them about sustainable living and gardening.
