Details

The Sacred Heart Church is a Catholic church located in St. Aubin, Jersey, Channel Islands. Built in 1947, after delays caused by the Second World War, it is considered a symbol of the Island's post-war liberation. The church was designed in a thirteenth-century Gothic style by architects Julien Barbier of Paris and C.W.B. Bolton of Jersey.

The building is constructed of regularly coursed granite blocks with a clay tile roof and features a Greek cross plan inscribed by a square. The prominent west front with its bellcote was intentionally designed to be a landmark in the views across St. Aubin's Bay. The interior walls are granite-faced, and the church includes a nave, sanctuary, narthex, gallery, confessionals, and altars dedicated to the Lady and the Holy Family. It is part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portsmouth.

What a beautiful location for a lovely church. Went to Mass here while on holidays in Jersey. Nice to see so many people attending Mass.

Visited this church as I had heard so much about the glass, wasn't what I expected it had a modern look and feel about it, I do prefer the more traditional decor and traditional stained glass .

Lovely oasis of calm next to the beach in St Aubin's Bay. I popped in and sat quietly and felt very calm while the rest of the island carried on.
The story behind the anchor is lovely.
