La Vaque dé Jèrri is a bronze sculpture by John McKenna, unveiled on September 29, 2001. It features a group of four life-size Jersey cattle: two cows, a calf, and a bull, depicted at a water trough with a 'crapaud' (toad) detail. The sculpture is a tribute to the renowned Jersey breed of cow and commemorates the 50th anniversary of The World Jersey Cattle Bureau.
The Jersey cow, originating from the Island of Jersey, has long been recognized globally as a superior dairy animal due to its natural ability to produce rich milk. The breed has been protected in its island home by legislation dating back to 1763 and has been exported worldwide since the 18th century. The sculpture was commissioned by The Year of the Jersey Association and was generously funded by donations from both Jersey and overseas.
Accessible to the public at all times.
