St Matthew's Church, also known as the Glass Church, is an Anglican church in Millbrook, in the parish of Saint Lawrence, Jersey. Originally built in 1840 as a chapel of ease, it was extensively renovated in 1934, commissioned by Florence Boot, Lady Trent, in memory of her late husband Jesse Boot, the founder of Boots the Chemists. This renovation was carried out by architect A. B. Grayson and featured extensive glasswork by renowned French glass designer René Lalique, making it a unique and significant 20th-century building. It is considered the only remaining complete example of Lalique's heavy, clouded glasswork in a church setting.
The interior is adorned with exceptional Lalique glass, including a prominent cross, altar, communion rail, screens, windows decorated with lilies, and a distinctive chalice-shaped font. The Lady Chapel features four large glass angels, which are also represented in the main doors. The church's design creates a striking contrast of light and dark, with the glasswork providing a modern aesthetic. Recognised for its architectural, historical, and artistic importance, St Matthew's was listed as a Site of Special Interest by Jersey Heritage.
