St Ouen's Bay, nicknamed 'The Five Mile Road', is Jersey's longest beach, stretching along the island's west coast. It's a renowned surfing destination in the Channel Islands, thanks to the consistent Atlantic swell, and its considerable length ensures it rarely feels overcrowded. While some areas like La Braye can be busier, quieter spots are usually accessible with a short walk. The bay offers a range of activities including surfing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, and windsurfing, with facilities such as cafes, restaurants, toilets, disabled access, and first aid points available.

The bay is a central part of the Parish of St Ouen, the largest parish in Jersey by area. This parish is largely agricultural and maintains a distinct cultural identity, partly due to its distance from St Helier and the historical influence of the de Carteret family, whose seat is St Ouen's Manor. St Ouen's Bay is not just a haven for surfers and beachgoers but also holds historical significance with prehistoric sites like the Dolmen des Monts Grantez and the ruins of Grosnez Castle nearby. The area is well-served by public transport and has ample parking, though it can get busy during peak summer months.

Opening Hours

Open all year round. Specific attractions and businesses within the bay have their own hours, for example, the Parish Hall is open Monday-Tuesday 09:30-12:30 & 14:00-16:00, Wednesday-Thursday 09:30-12:30, Friday 09:30-12:30 & 14:00-16:00. Jersey Pearl Café is open daily 09:30-16:30. Le Braye Cafe is open Sun 9am-5pm, Mon-Tue 9am-4pm, Wed-Sat 9am-9pm. Rocco's Activity Centre is open 9am-7pm every day.
