Details

Samarès Manor is a manor house with medieval origins located in St. Clement, Jersey. The site includes an 11th or 12th-century undercroft, a colombier (dovecote) believed to be the oldest in Jersey, and extensive gardens first created in the 1920s by Sir James Knott. The gardens are a significant feature, with diverse collections including a Japanese garden, herb garden, and rose garden.

The manor house itself has been enlarged and remodeled over the centuries, with notable interiors from the early 20th century. In addition to the main house and gardens, the site includes a 19th-century farm complex, parts of which have been converted into self-catering accommodation. Visitors can also explore a rural life museum and enjoy the on-site tea room.

Not as wonderful as they make out. The herb garden is in a superb setting but the planting and explanation could be a lot better. For example herbs which like dry conditions are in the same bed as herbs which like wetter conditions. Why? I think they need volunteers or more staff.
I really enjoyed the apple trees however. And the cafeteria is fine

We loved our trip to the gardens and the tea room, lovely friendly staff in the shop and the cafe and a delicious cream tea. The gardens were lovely and so relaxing, the Japanese one especially was beautiful for a wander. We came with a friend in a wheelchair and it’s very accessible.
Thank you for a lovely afternoon.
