Details

The Channel Islands Military Museum is housed in a German bunker that once formed part of Hitler's Atlantic Wall defenses. Within the bunker itself are many rooms full of artifacts, both military and civilian, that help tell the story of the five long years of German occupation. There are hundreds of interesting pieces to look at as well as lots to read, and there is also a 40-minute commentary of locals recounting experiences of the time.

The museum is the work of one man who started collecting at the age of 7 and who is still looking for items to add to the displays. Items are added every week, and there is always something new to be seen. The museum aims to further the appreciation and understanding of Jersey's history. It exhibits an extensive range of military items that give an insight into the historical truth that Jersey was one of the most heavily fortified areas in the entire Third Reich, balanced by a varied collection of items that give a flavour of what life would have been like for the local population living under military rule.

Very informative museum with plenty of things to look at. Give yourself plenty of time here as there are many interesting stories to read! Tickets were £8 when we went, which was well worth the price, although the bunker is not huge.

There is a bus stop right outside and a restaurant nearby where you can wait to catch the bus back.

A fascinating look at the way the Germans were like on a daily basis in these bunkers. A big thank you to Norman for his help. He told us we could ask questions if we had any queries going around the bunker and I had many questions. He answered everyone and to me he was a fountain of knowledge. I really appreciated this . I would say it is not very big and it will not take you long but if you do have questions always ask because they will answer them . A drinks van in the car park which done the amazing milkshakes and proper fruit smoothies..

Highly recommended! An excellent restored bunker that is, unlike the Lothringen complex open. Plenty of artifacts to view and the main man there is very knowledgeable.

We loved this little museum, there is so much in there to read and learn about the occupation. Fascinating collection and really worth a visit. It looks small but there is tons packed in it. You can also head to The Jersey Pearl right opposite for a cuppa afterwards which is right opposite.
