Fort Leicester is a magnificent 19th-century fort, steeped in a rich military history that dates back to the late 16th century when it was first fortified, and later modified during the Second World War by German occupying forces. Named after Queen Elizabeth I's favoured Earl of Leicester, this distinctive stronghold is dramatically perched into the cliff-face above Bouley Bay's picturesque harbour, forming a captivating part of Jersey's National Park. Lovely quiet location with some nice walks and lovely scenery.
Definitely not a place to stay for people with mobility issues.
Views are amazing you could never get tired of them. The wildlife was lovely we heard the bees in the morning and the birds occupy the cliffs surrounding you, it is quite common to see lizards sunning themselves which adds to the appeal of the Fort. The cafe in the bay sells a lovely apple pie. It is a pebble beach but the dogs didn't mind.
The Fort isn't open to anyone if occupied however we had a few people pop up not realising anyone was staying there and we were more than happy to let them wander around as it's such an amazing place.
