Catel Fort

Jersey

Rating: 4.6 ★ (24 ratings)

Details

A nice little Fort, the grounds of which are easy to access even when locked. The footpath above it takes you the western side of Little Greve de l'Ecq. Lovely property with fab views. 1781 Militia were there as a special event today. Le Câtel Fort is a situated overlooking Greve de Lecq Bay. It was built in the 1780s to defend the bay from French invasion. The fort consisted of a battery, guardhouse and was armed with three fearsome 32-pounder guns on traversing platforms. It is now under the National Trust for Jersey. It is an amazing location for a small private function and is also licensed for wedding too. Closed shut to public on a Monday at 2pm. No gate signage to advise. Great place for a family gathering or party 👍
