When we arrived and sat down, one of us lightly touched one of the table decorations. Immediately, a waitress — who later said she was the owner’s girlfriend — started removing the decorations aggressively and told us we were not supposed to touch them. We apologized right away, but she refused to accept it and kept acting rude and confrontational.
Things escalated even more when she went to the door, opened it, and said, “If you’re not happy, you can leave,” in front of a full restaurant. It was embarrassing and completely out of line.
We asked to speak with the owner, hoping to calm things down, but it only got worse. He came to the table shouting, waving his arms in the air — so aggressively that it felt like he might hit someone. At that point, we decided to leave.
Both the waitress’s and the owner’s behavior were completely unprofessional and unacceptable. Clearly, there’s no real management to take responsibility when the problem starts at the top.
Lucky to get the Chefs table which gave great access to see my meal bro g prepared by an artisan. Quality ingredients (Waitrose Ricotta cheese). Loved the side portion of tomatoes for dipping, and pot of chilli oil to pep up.
But this restaurant is so much more… bruschetta with wild mushrooms and poached egg for starter … this is THE Italian to visit
