Food though all home made and nice, was very much on the small size.
Especially for the price.

Odd way of ordering as well you'd order the main (burger in my case) then the chips (my choice) as the side. Chips were potato's thinly slide and stuck together. Was told I wont leave hungry, unfortunately not the case.

All in all I would not bother.

Put a service charge on as well. Won't be gracing there again.

Overall, would recommend both the Bear pub and the Upstairs restaurant to others.

We went to try the pub first just after Christmas on a Saturday evening. Very busy so became very loud in there. We were shouting to be able to hear each other. We had most of the small plates to share as tapas style and a couple of big dishes between 4 of us. 5/5 for food tastiness. Best onion Baji I have ever had. Wished they could have brought the dishes as and when they were ready. Ventilation could be improved. I noticed some deep fried smells on my coat 😁.

Then we went back to Upstairs a few weeks back with friends, a table of 6. We shared stake and stilton pie, some sides and fish (I think it was turbot). All very tasty. Love how they serve the potatoes. Nice margaritas too.

Will be going back, hopefully soon.

Absolutely amazing Sunday lunch served by excellent staff! I had sage and onion bhajee for starter and sea bream for main course with perfect vegetables. Very decent portions at a good price in the first floor bar. Live music started from mid afternoon with a guitarist and singer which gave such a relaxing atmosphere. Staff were quick, polite, friendly and helpful at all times - I can't say how good they were as 5/5 isn't enough 👍I highly recommend this place 😁

Such a lovely spot, the food and drinks are reasonably priced. All the food is homemade. They can tailor the food to suit dietary requirements and offer a range of gluten free and vegetarian meals. They do different puddings and homemade pies that are on the boards when you come in. All the food is homemade and you can definitely tell! The food was amazing. This place was highly recommended to us by our taxi driver Kevin and we can see why! Would definitely visit again and recommend to others.

What an experience! It hit all the marks. The servers were very attentive, chatty, and smiley they really made us feel right at home. The restaurant is very cosy and atmospheric. I love the layout, and the food was absolutely spot on.
It’s exactly what Jersey needs a modern British bistro. The steak was cooked to perfection and we even ended up ordering an extra portion of the duck fat potatoes because they were incredible! Even though it was busy, the food made its way to our table quickly, which was great since we were all starving. We left feeling so satisfied with our meal. Don’t miss out! The Bear is definitely the place to go
