TLDR Mostly good food, rushed service.
We booked in for dinner on Friday night.
The place looks lovely, initial vibes good. Server came to take our order and we hadn’t decided yet and we were quickly reminded that our booking was for 1.5 hours and that we should prioritise ordering first and talking later (we were discussing menu items). We dine out regularly and so are familiar with booking slots and totally understand that restaurants needs to maximise bookings, and this has never been an issue, but on this occasion this immediately made us feel rushed and I found myself checking my watch to make sure we weren’t overstaying our slot, not really good enough when spending £150.This also stopped us from ordering a bottle of wine when our ‘mains’ came out as we didn’t want to have to rush the bottle.
Overall the food was good, starters more so than the pastas. Would recommend the cod’s roe dip, first serve of focaccia was good, second oily, beef carpaccio was delicious! My husband enjoyed the gnocchi with nduja, the carbonara looked impressive on the plate but was under seasoned.
We enjoy eating Italian food for the layered process of eating. Some antipasti/small plates to start, a pasta course followed by seafood or meat, and we ordered our meal based on this. We were told the food comes out whenever it’s ready which honestly felt lazy. We ended up with either a potato side dish sitting alone or a table full of food, this impacted our experience.
The food is absolutely spot on, nothing is over complicated but just cooked to perfection! I’d really recommend getting a bit of everything when you go as everything is unique to the other choices but at the same time I could of eaten 2 of the guanciale pizzattas to myself as they are to die for! Everything that we ordered was so good, that’s it’s made me really curious to come back and try the rest of the menu! Don’t miss out!
P.S makes a perfect date night if you’re looking to impress your other half 😂
