The staff are friendly and make you feel at home.
The only thing was we went there at 6pm and felt rushed to leave. But .. will definitely go back 👍🏻
I came to Jersey as a tourist, and decided to come here for dinner. I could not have picked a better place, honestly!
Not only the food is amazing and the portions are massive, the staff is really friendly, and the prices really affordable.
When I arrived on a quiet Wednesday evening (around 5:40pm), the bar was not busy with only a few customers. I sat at a 4-person table at a nicer location (because smaller tables were all in cramped corners). There were two other single persons sitting at two 4-person tables as well. However, the waiter only approached me and asked me to move to a smaller table (located at a cramped corner), then I said “it’s not busy, but if more ppl arrive and need this table, I will move”. The waiter walked away and a few seconds later, the owner came to me and “ordered” me to move to another table like a police officer, as if I were a criminal. I felt being unfairly treated, but the owner just wouldn’t listen and continued to be arrogant. He did later explain (after I asked) that others were waiting for their friends to come, but he could have told me in a polite manner before demanding me to move, and I would have understood and be more than happy to move. Otherwise, what happened today did look like they’re targeting (or discriminating) me, because all other customers in the bar at that time seemed to be the owner’s friends (or if not, all Portuguese/Europeans)
I’ve never been treated like this. If the restaurant is not busy and has a lot of vacant tables, it’s perfectly acceptable to sit at a larger table, as my experience in London and other parts of the UK as well as other cafes I’ve been to in Jersey. Even if the restaurant doesn’t agree, they should speak to customers in a professional manner rather than telling them off.
