Details

The Apollo Hotel in St. Helier, Jersey, which once served as a prominent accommodation, has been demolished to make way for new housing developments. It closed its doors in November 2022, with the building subsequently cleared to be replaced by 78 flats. During its operational years, the hotel was centrally located in St. Helier, placing guests within easy reach of attractions such as the Jersey Arts Centre, St. Helier Central Market, and Howard Davis Park. Its location was also praised for being surrounded by shopping delights.

Before its demolition, the three-star Apollo Hotel offered a range of amenities for its guests, housed within its 84 or 85 rooms. Highlights included both indoor and outdoor swimming pools, with the outdoor pool notably featuring a waterslide. Guests could also enjoy dining at its two restaurants and relax at its two bars. The rooms were equipped with features such as balconies, flat-screen TVs, ironing facilities, and tea/coffee making provisions, with some offering views over the garden. Additional facilities included a fitness center, a rooftop terrace, a garden, and complimentary Wi-Fi in rooms.

Considering its wide array of facilities, including multiple pools, a waterslide, and a central location near various attractions, the Apollo Hotel was likely an ideal choice for families and general leisure travelers seeking a comfortable and convenient stay in Jersey. It also appealed to a broader tourist market, as evidenced by its past thriving during the island's tourism heyday. However, as the building has been demolished, it is no longer available for bookings or visits.

We had a lovely 3 night's stay at the Apollo. It is close to town. The staff in the restaurant were really friendly. The food was tasty and plenty of it.
The pool and Jacuzzi was enjoyable with a little gym in the too.
Although a little dated, the place was spotless. Our room was cleaned every day.
Only down side, the rooms were very warm during the night.
We would definitely stay again.

Very clean hotel, was my first impression. Tidy too, staff were polite and helpful. Room was cleaned on a daily basis to a high standard, towels replaced, bed made etc. Shame it's going to be demolished next year. It's in a good location, ten minutes walk to bus station and the front. There was an outdoor pool too, but this time of year it would of been pretty cold.

The hotel is so centrally located it is a 5 minute walk to the main high street. The hotel is clean and my room was large with a huge bed. The food is amazing, the restaurant staff are so friendly, Joe will make sure you are well taken care of. The breakfast buffet has a great selection of hot and cold options. I was travelling for work so being on your own can be lonely, the staff really made me feel looked after. 11/10. I will be back in the summer for a holiday. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

The food in the restaurant was excellent, the specials are so delicious I wanted to take the chef home with us. Anything I cook will never come up to standard compared to our experience here. The staff were all pleasant, accommodating and helpful. Great to have an indoor pool and jacuzzi. The room was well looked after by the โ€˜bed fairiesโ€™ (so nice to come back to a freshly made bed each time). Highly recommend a stay here but donโ€™t leave without going to the restaurant, you would certainly regret it.

Makes a travel inn look like a 5 star hotel.

Rooms are decent size but dated. You hear a lot of noise from rooms next door so don't expect a great night's sleep. The shower is rubbish, water pressure varies and temp goes from scalding hot to freezing cold and water pressure is very low. Bed is OK, but not super comfy and pillows are old and lumpy. TV in the room is tiny with awful sound and a remote that was faulty. After seeing the hotel we didn't even bother trying the food and chose to eat out.

Staff are friendly and helpful but overall the hotel is very dated and worn. There must be better value available elshwere on the island.
