Although a little bit of a walk into town,20 minutes,the location was on a bus route.
Clean and tidy hotel and rooms,great food and menu options.
Only criticism was the lack of comfortable seating in the bar area.
The indoor pool area was very clean,sadly the steam room was not available.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and a great source of local information.

This hotel is super close to being perfect. The staff were great and we even made friends with a couple of them, the food was great but on some evenings nothing on the different menus for the different courses appealed to me. The pools were good but the indoor one could be a bit deeper and the outdoor one was cold, but that is to be expected so that’s nobody’s fault. As for the rooms, ours was great apart from the slightly small bathroom and the low amount of plug sockets. My tips for other visitors are that you shouldn’t try to toast cut-up croissants in the toaster oven as it isn’t designed for them and you also shouldn’t adjust the temperature (unless someone else has changed it, in that case you should change it back to the default (which is normally the middle setting on the dial, but you still might just want to inform a member of staff)), and also maybe pick up the hot plates during breakfast using a napkin, as they are very hot (perhaps do this when holding certain pairs of tongs as well, as they can get a quite hot. If someone who works at the Monterey Hotel is reading this, then I would just like to say that I really enjoyed my stay, but I would like to see some more evening entertainment next time please! We weren’t sure what to expect as booked the hotel as part of a coach tour but we knew once we walked in and greeted by such friendly staff that we’d come to a lovely hotel. The food in the restaurant is excellent, we did the half board option, breakfast is lovely, dinner is so good we decided not to eat out! Shout out to lovely barman Victor who gave us the great recommendation for lunch at The Lookout which has amazing food and views. Amos the waiter was also lovely and kept us entertained. All the staff are wonderful. We used the pool and jacuzzi, and sunbathed by the outdoor pool too. Only small improvements would be to update the bedroom decor or at least the mattresses to a little more comfort and maybe a few more entertainment options in the evening (there was a quiz one evening). Thanks for a wonderful stay!

The service in this hotel was great. Attention to detail was nothing but the best from the staff. The bed was very comfy and the room spacious. The food was very good and reasonably priced. The pool area was nicely presented and very clean.
On the downside, there was the smell in the corridors of stale urine and reminded me of the smell in an unkempt residential care home, and the fact the room was actually quite damp which left the towels and my clothes smelling the same and wasn’t great if you have chest conditions. The interiors of the hotel and corridors look very dated.

Lovely hotel. Staff were friendly and welcoming from start to finish of holiday. Food was excellant and service was first class. Rooms were spotless and comfortable. Management place a bottle of champagne and glasses in on room for our arrival as they had been told by tour company it was our golden wedding anniversary. Location is great for buses and short walk to main shops. Would definitely recommend.
