Penelope Blackie (piano)
Penelope Blackie, an accomplished pianist and graduate of the Paris Conservatoire with a Premier Prix, gave her first recital in Jersey in 1980. She embarked on her current series of piano recitals in 2007, with only a pandemic-induced pause in 2020. Blackie studied under the renowned pianist Vlado Perlemuter, who worked closely with Maurice Ravel on his piano compositions.

Zaire (Congo) River Expedition 50th Anniversary
Join two Jersey adventurers and legendary explorer Colonel John Blashford-Snell as they commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Zaire (Congo) River Expedition, retracing the journey of a 165-strong team that braved white water rapids and wildlife encounters. The 1974 expedition inspired HM King Charles III to establish Operations Drake and Raleigh, promoting youth involvement in global sustainable projects. Funds raised by the Jersey Scientific Exploration Society will support a bursary for Islanders in pursuit of meaningful overseas endeavors.
